There has been a lot happening at the trust recently, so we thought it was time for
an update blog post seems we haven't shared one in a while.
To get daily updates on everything that's going on here at Stori Brymbo please give our Facebook or Instagram a follow.
FIRSTLY!
Say hello to Nikki & Tom the latest member of our team!
Nicola Sawford, CEO
Nicola Sawford is our new CEO, and leading Stori Brymbo forward.
Some of you have met Nikki already through our volunteering and interest groups or at the April Open Day. She's Mum to 2 teenagers (eeek!) and has lived locally most of her life.
Nikki joined us in mid-April and jumped straight in to moving forward with the land and legal deals, so we can get the long-awaited permission to start across the line and start developing the the Heritage Area.
Nikki has a track record of supporting start-up organisations and bringing a strong customer focus. You'll spot her - she's usually the one in the impractically white jacket!
Tom, Volunteer Coordinator
Tom joined us on 3 June as our new Volunteer Coordinator. Some of you might remember Tom from a short while ago, he used to be a volunteer here himself.
Whilst here, he worked with Dr Tim in the Fossil Forest engaged in research for his PhD. Since leaving us, he's been gaining valuable Volunteer Coordinator experience elsewhere, but his heart was always here and we're looking forward to welcoming him back.
He's jumped straight into the role and already held a successful volunteer day on-site for the national scheme "The Big Help Out". Find out more below.
Go Tom!
Our next Open Day is just around the corner.

The Big Help Out!
We threw Tom into the deep end, so he started doing lengths!
As part of Tom's first week here, he wanted to hold a 'Big Help Out' volunteering session on Sunday 9th June. The Big Help Out is a national scheme encouraging people to lend a hand to organisations and charities across the country to give them some much-needed support.
There were a variety of activities on-site to get involved in, we had a great time meeting new people working and having a good laugh as always with our regular volunteers.
Thanks again to everyone who came along!
We will be continuing these volunteer sessions every other Sunday, so the next one will be on 23rd June! At this one, we need help preparing for our big Open Day on the 29th!
Some of our chunky fossils need moving around to keep them safe, more vegetation needs clearing and benches/seating need some TLC!
Anyone is welcome and of course, refreshments will be provided! (We know you like doughnuts)
BIO-BLITZ
We held our first Bioblitz session down on Miller Field. We'll be sharing the next dates soon so keep an eye out and join us as we explore the world of mini beasts and plant life on the Lodge Valley Park.
Here are some pictures from the first session...
Interested in joining one of our groups... why not get involved with our Ecology Group?
